Last week the mens and womens cross country teams went out to A1 Mountain Road to get in a Lactate Threshold run. Distances ranged from 3 miles for some of the new freshmen and up to 10 miles for the most experienced men.
A1 Mountain Road, or as we like to simply call it, “A1,” is a common workout location. It is located about 15 minutes west of NAU’s campus and offers good footing and little traffic. The dirt road goes forever, with many of the local professional runners coming out here to do their 20+ mile long runs. With its steady incline on the way out, it makes for a great location for progression and threshold runs at about 7,300 feet.
